LSI-format specializes in the layout and formatting of books that are to be printed by Lightning Source (aka ‘LSI’), the world’s leading Print-on-Demand printer.

For a detailed rundown of what Lightning Source can do for you, see their services page for a complete description. They also have a new clients page which runs through the whole process step by step.

If you want to have your book printed by LSI, or any other POD printer, you’ll most likely be required to submit your book files, both interior and cover, in PDF format. For this, you will need to have:

  1. An understanding of their technical requirements; and
  2. The ability to lay out a book so that it looks good.

Which is where LSI-format comes in. You send us your complete and edited text in .doc (most people know that as a Word document) or .rtf (Rich Text Format) format. We format it and send you a printer-ready PDF, ready for you to upload to Lightning Source. We can format the interior pages for you, and we can also prepare the cover file for you.

We have years of experience in getting books ready for Lightning Source, and pride ourselves on having a good knowledge of typography and what makes a printed page look good and read well. For more details on how the LSI-format system works, click here, or download some samples of book interiors.
